Statement

Since a small child, I have had the impulse to paint.  Although I never did get around to studying Art formally, the impulse to paint has never left me.  My best inspiration comes from poetry.  Conflicts of the moment also fuel my art.  Whether it’s about Nature, or about the nature of man’s Soul, my favourite organ of expression is the Landscape.  Trees, water, clouds and horizons are my agents and I use them to talk about abstract emotions and ideals.  A ‘pink sky’ can represent the mystery of the Divine.  A ‘path’ is the proverbial Journey we are taking on this earth…or, it’s a road tracing a route through the Unknown.  A ‘tree’ can be painted to depict a feeling of Aspiration…or, it can be painted to look Patient and Enduring.  For me, the whole process is a contemplation and a meditation.  Every one of my paintings is also a ‘breakthrough’ in the sense that I have explored a difficulty, or made a statement about Life.
